Next year

I want to do an Ironman distance race next year but I can't decide what one to do. Switzerland was lovely last year for the half, but I feel like I would like to see somewhere else now.
I have kind of narrowed it down to Challenge Roth, Ironman Switzerland, Ironman UK or Ironman France.

Help me decide, what do you think would be a good race to do as my first full distance Ironman

Hi Mike
Depends on what sort of experience you want to have, what your strengths/ weaknesses are & what sort of weather you like.
France - mountainous & generally very hot, brilliant atmosphere, well organised.
Roth - rolling & fast, awesome support from the locals, my fave race
Switzerland - not done it, but all reports were pretty good.
UK - usually cold & wet, nothing like the atmosphere or support of the others, road surface is dire!
Whichever you choose, you'll have an experience to remember.

Thanks Will.
I can't deal with the heat so much so France might be out. I'm still swaying towards Switzerland at the moment.

Looking forward to your handbook coming out!

I'd say avoid IMUK, hilly and sure you may as well go somewhere nice and warm :)

IMCH looks sweet though, and Roth is sold out no?
